WHAT INFORMATION WE COLLECT AND WHY

We collect only what we need to provide a reliable, secure, and personalized service.

Information you provide to us

  • Your mobile phone number - used to create and verify your account
  • Your email address - required so that payments are automatically matched to your account and so we can send you important account notifications
  • Payment details - processed securely by our payment processors. We do not store your full card number

Information collected automatically

  • Call logs - destination numbers, duration, and timestamps - kept for service provision and regulatory compliance
  • Credit transfer and voucher redemption history
  • Device information - device type and operating system, used to maintain app compatibility
  • General location - used only for service routing optimization. We do not collect precise GPS location

Information from customer support

When you contact us for help, we retain records of that communication to resolve your issue and improve our service.

HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATION

We use your information to run the service, keep it secure, and communicate with you when it matters.

Running the service

  • Verifying your identity when you sign in
  • Routing your international calls through our network
  • Applying credit to your account after a payment using your registered email
  • Processing credit transfers to other users
  • Managing voucher and PIN redemptions and enforcing security lockouts where required

Keeping the service secure

  • Detecting and preventing fraud, unauthorized access, and voucher abuse
  • Meeting our obligations under CRTC, PIPEDA, and other Canadian regulations

Communicating with you

We will contact you by email and in-app notification for the following:

  • Low balance alerts
  • Payment confirmations
  • Security notifications such as voucher lockout alerts
  • Important changes to the service or these policies
  • Planned maintenance that may affect availability

We will only send you promotional or marketing messages if you have explicitly opted in. You can withdraw that consent at any time by emailing info@ericalltelecom.com.

WHO WE SHARE YOUR INFORMATION WITH

We share your information only with partners who help us deliver the service. We do not sell it, trade it, or share it for advertising purposes.

Our service partners:
  • SMS verification provider - sends the one-time code when you register or log in
  • International call routing and billing provider - routes and records your calls
  • Payment processors (Stripe and PayPal) - handle your card and PayPal transactions securely
  • Currency exchange rate provider (CurrencyLayer) - provides the real-time exchange rates shown in the app for reference purposes only. No personal information is shared with this provider
  • Mobile application technology provider - powers the Ericall Telecom app
  • Customer support platform - used to manage support requests

Legal and regulatory disclosure

We may disclose your information if required by CRTC regulations, a valid court order, or a lawful request from a law enforcement authority. We will only do so to the extent required by law.

Business changes

In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may transfer to the new entity. We will notify you before that happens and ensure equivalent privacy protections are in place.

CURRENCIES AND EXCHANGE RATES

Ericall Telecom is a Canadian business and bills in Canadian Dollars (CAD). The app also shows approximate equivalent amounts in USD, GBP, and EUR using live exchange rates for your reference. These conversions are display-only - the CAD amount is always the definitive charge.

To retrieve these rates, our app connects to a currency exchange service. No personal information is transmitted in this process.

CALLING RATES

International calling rates are available in the Calling Rate tab of the app and may change at any time. We recommend checking the current rate before placing a call, as we are not able to guarantee advance notification of every rate change.

HOW WE PROTECT YOUR INFORMATION

We take the security of your information seriously. Our technical and organizational measures include:
  • Encrypted transmission of data between the app and our servers
  • Encrypted storage of sensitive account information
  • Strict access controls - only staff who need access to your data to do their job can access it
  • Regular internal security reviews
  • Contractual security requirements with all service partners
How long we keep your information
  • Account information - retained while your account is active
  • Call records - retained for 7 years as required by CRTC regulations
  • Payment records - retained as required by financial regulations
  • Closed accounts - personal information deleted within 30 days, except where law requires longer retention

YOUR RIGHTS

Under Canadian privacy law - specifically PIPEDA and BC's PIPA - you have the following rights regarding your personal information:
  • Access - request a copy of the personal information we hold about you
  • Correction - ask us to correct any information that is inaccurate or incomplete
  • Deletion - request deletion of your information, subject to legal retention requirements
  • Portability - request your information in a common, portable format
  • Withdraw consent - opt out of marketing communications at any time

INTERNATIONAL DATA TRANSFERS

Your information is stored primarily in Canada. However, because Ericall Telecom routes international calls and processes payments globally, some information may be processed outside Canada in limited and controlled circumstances - specifically for completing calls, processing payments, and maintaining service reliability.

When this occurs, we ensure our partners are bound by contractual obligations that require them to protect your information to a standard consistent with Canadian privacy law. International partners access only what they need, transmit data securely, and do not store your information permanently.

COOKIES AND APP TRACKING

Our website and app use a small number of cookies and similar technologies. These include essential cookies required for the app to function, anonymized analytics that help us understand how the service is used and where it can be improved, and preference settings that remember your choices. You can manage cookie preferences through your browser or device settings.

CHILDREN

Ericall Telecom is not intended for anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If we become aware that a minor has created an account, we will close it and delete the associated information promptly.

CHANGES TO THIS POLICY

We may update this Privacy Policy when our services change, when privacy laws are updated, or when we make changes to our business. When we do, the updated date at the top of this page will reflect the change. For significant updates, we will notify you by email and in-app notification before the changes take effect.

If you have a concern about how we have handled your personal information, please contact us first. We take every complaint seriously and will respond within 30 days.
